Invisalign®

If you would like to straighten your teeth but do not want to wear traditional braces, consider Invisalign®, available at our practice serving Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Mandeville, and surrounding communities.  The Invisalign® system repositions the teeth using a series of clear plastic trays.  The trays are virtually invisible and quite comfortable, so you can wear them to social occasions with confidence.  The trays are also removable, so you can still enjoy all your favorite foods and brush and floss with ease.  Invisalign® can give you a balanced, beautiful smile.

The Invisalign® Process

The process is straightforward:  our dentists take molds of your teeth and mouth, which Invisalign® technicians use to plan your treatment from start to finish. Patients visit us every six weeks to receive a new tray set and to evaluate and monitor progress. Patients who wear the trays day and night, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss, may complete treatment in as little as 6 to 18 months. After completing treatment, many patients choose to polish their smiles with teeth whitening.

Simpli5®

For those whose teeth need minor straightening, Simpli5® is a great option. Using a process similar to that of Invisalign®, Simpli5® is a series of clear removable trays—usually five, though it varies by patient—that are worn 24 hours a day and changed every four weeks. Since fewer trays are used to correct spacing and alignment problems, treatment time and the costs associated are reduced significantly.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is an attractive, relatively inexpensive solution for minor chips, cracks, and discoloration.  It involves the application of a durable, tooth-colored bonding material to the surface of the tooth.  The process is non-invasive and provides instant results. 

The Dental Bonding Process

Typically, the dental bonding process requires one visit to our office in Baton Rouge.  The dentist begins this visit by applying a local anesthetic if necessary.  He then lightly scuffs the surface of the tooth to facilitate the bonding of the material to the tooth.  Next, he applies the bonding material to the tooth and carefully sculpts it to enhance the tooth’s appearance.  The dentist then cures the material by exposing it to a special light.  Finally, he buffs the tooth to a shine.  With proper maintenance, dental bonding can last for several years.

Dental Fillings

Gum Contouring

Gum contouring is an excellent solution for "gummy" smiles (in which excess gum tissue covers the part of the tooth nearest the gumline).  By removing this excess tissue, gum contouring reveals more of the enamel for a whiter, brighter smile.  While gum contouring alone can dramatically improve the smile, it can also be performed in conjunction with other treatments such as teeth whitening for a total smile makeover.

The Gum Contouring Process

The gum contouring process typically requires just one visit to our Baton Rouge office.  To begin the treatment, the dentist administers a local anesthetic.  When the mouth is fully anesthetized, the dentist carefully removes the excess gum tissue to reveal more of the tooth.  He precisely shapes the gumline to enhance the smile.  The treatment typically takes less than one hour.
